Learning, Recreation and Services for People Age 50 and Better

Hours of Operation:
Monday - Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at both sites.

SAAC News is the bi-monthly newsletter that includes articles about the activities in Norristown and Ambler Centers and information about all of their programs.

Have the time of your life! The Centers of Montco SAAC are busy places, offering a wide variety of programs to meet your needs as an active, senior adult aged 50 or better. Our comprehensive programs include everything from computer labs and a variety of recreational activities, arts and crafts to social walking groups.

Classes & Workshops for Adults Age 50+

Health, Fitness and Dance

Full Body Fitness. Achieve inner strength by trying this specialized exercise to strengthen core muscles, improve balance, increase flexibility and provide full body toning.

Gentle Exercise

Breathing and exercise techniques that increase flexibility, strength, and mobility. Especially helpful for arthritis.

Tai Chi/Qi

GongQui Gong and Tai Chi are moving meditation that is both calming and relaxing while increasing flexibility, balance and overall strength.

Yoga for Health

Feel the aches and pains of aging? Explore ancient yoga poses and discover how they can help improve strength, flexibility and balance.

Check the newsletters of each Center to see where dance classes are being offered. No dancing experience required. Line Dancing: Line dancing burns calories, increases metabolism, stimulates endorphins, relieves depression and anxiety, and in addition, is a general all-around stress reducer. When we get our bodies moving to some stimulating music and learn new steps to a few line dances, it increases confidence and stimulates our brain.

FREE for our members, the computer labs in both Centers are available for Montco SAAC members to practice their skills, email friends, and use the Internet. Basic computer skills are necessary. Instruction is not provided.

Each center offers a variety of ongoing and special classes. Included are creative arts such as painting, sculpture and jewelry making. Craft classes include quilt making and the sewing arts.

There are educational classes on real estate, financial planning, legal assistance, tax assistance and the 55 Alive Defensive Driving Course.

For fun, we have classes on card games such as bridge, pinochle and poker.

Classes are developed on the interests of members and trends in the communities we serve.

Facility Rental

The Centers in Norristown and Ambler are ideal for weddings, anniversary receptions, meetings, family gatherings and other special events. Rooms can accommodate groups as small as 10 or as large as 200.
