Coronavirus (COVID-19): Tips for Dementia Caregivers

Most likely, dementia does not increase risk for COVID-19, the respiratory illness caused by the new coronavirus, just like dementia does not increase risk for flu. However, dementia-related behaviors, increased age and common health conditions that often accompany dementia may increase risk.

YMCA 360 offers online exercise, fitness, wellbeing, and youth sports classes from the comfort of your own home. Popular classes like yoga, barre, bootcamp, tai chi, boxing, weightlifting and soccer are free for you and your family.

Check out Chair Tai Chi at Arbour Square

Chair Tai Chi and Qigong can be practiced by anyone for massaging and exercising the body and its energetic systems. This practice focuses on continuous upper body rotation and circular movements.

Chair Aerobics and Strength with Diane

Friday's | 10:15 - 11:00 a.m.

Join Diane McKallip every Friday from 10:15 to 11am for Chair Aerobics and Strength. All you need is a sturdy straight back chair, a hand towel and weights. If you do not have weights; that is not a problem. You can use household items such as soup cans or bottles instead.

We will warm up, do some chair aerobics, build upper body strength, and stretch out!

Monday and Wednesday | 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Monday: BOOM MUSCLE is an intermediate interval class that improves functional strength and movement efficiency while increasing cardio-respiratory endurance. Requires dumbbells, water and 40 minutes of standing.

Wednesday: Strength and Balance includes static and dynamic balance with leg strength and upper body movement patterns. Appropriate for all, options for chairs are provided. Suggested tools are weights, a resistance band and water.
